One of Wangaratta Art Gallery’s most popular exhibitions, Petite Miniature Textiles showcases innovative textile practice from across Australia, in small scale. The biennial exhibition brings together a diversity of artists and approaches which extend textile practice and inquiry.

Marking its 14th anniversary, the 2026 exhibition will be curated by artist Cara Johnson and respond to the theme of “in the detail’. Cara Johnson’s craft-based practice interrogates tensions and narratives connected to the ways land is treated and used through material, intention and invested labour. Her practice is intertwined with her rural location in which she works in isolation, surrounded by bushland and sheep paddocks.
