Sangeeta Sandrasegar

24 October 2026 - 10 January 2027 | Gallery 2

Sangeeta Sandrasegar constructs a continuous narrative centred upon the relationships between migrant communities to their homelands, and life in Australia, where she lives and works.

back and back, forever brings together two bodies of work created concurrently across 2025 which extend in multiple form the ways in which Sandrasegar explores place and belonging. Taking a philosophical perspective to the threads that link the personal to the national, Sandrasegar engages with the cultures of India, Malaysia and Australia as sites of homecoming and bloodlines. The exhibition’s title references V.S. Naipal’s A Way in the World, a profound meditation on ancestral inheritance, deep time, and how the weight of history and memory reverberate within all of us.

Through these intersecting bodies of work back and back, forever examines the ongoing legacies of migration and diaspora through both the personal and the archive.
