Join the Wangaratta Art Gallery Friends for a special cocktail fundraiser and art auction in support of forty years of the Wangaratta Art Gallery. The event will raise much needed funds for acquisitions to our region’s public collection as well as contribute towards Collected Threads, a limited-edition publication celebrating the Gallery’s nationally significant collection.

A number of high-profile artists have already pledged works for the auction, making this a rare opportunity to acquire new art while supporting the Gallery’s future. Further detail on the auction, including artists, works and online bidding will be released shortly.

Forty Years of the Wangaratta Art Gallery

In 2027, Wangaratta Art Gallery celebrates 40 years of collecting, exhibiting and championing contemporary art. To mark this milestone, the Gallery will publish Collected Threads (working title) - a limited-edition publication showcasing works from this significant collection.

The publication will celebrate the Gallery’s deep connection to north-east Victoria and its nationally significant contemporary textile collection, shaped through the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award, Australia’s most significant acquisitive award for textile practice.

Your support will help bring this important publication to life, creating a lasting legacy for artists, audiences, researchers and future generations.
